Co-codamol 8/500mg Effervescent Tablets provide short-term relief from acute moderate pain that has not responded to standard painkillers like paracetamol, ibuprofen, or aspirin alone. These tablets are particularly useful for treating muscular and rheumatic pain, headaches, migraines, neuralgia, toothache, period pain, and other common aches and pains.
Each tablet contains a combination of paracetamol and codeine phosphate. Paracetamol reduces fever and alleviates pain, while codeine is an opioid analgesic that acts centrally to enhance pain relief. The effervescent form allows for rapid absorption, helping to provide quicker relief.
This medication is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age and is recommended for short-term use only to avoid dependency on codeine.

- This medicine contains codeine, which can cause addiction if used continuously for more than three days.
- Do not take other products containing paracetamol while using this medication.
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have breathing difficulties, bowel issues, liver or kidney disease, or a history of alcohol or drug abuse.
- Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
- Seek immediate medical advice if you experience side effects such as shallow breathing, drowsiness, or allergic reactions.
How to use ⌄
- Adults: Take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 8 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children 16–18 years: Take 1 to 2 tablets every 6 hours as needed, up to 8 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children 12–15 years: Take 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed, up to 4 tablets in 24 hours.
